Southern Clay Products Announces Price Increase for
Claytone® and Tixogel® Additives In the Americas
GONZALES, TX (December 2, 2007) – Effective January 1, 2008 or as contracts allow, Southern Clay Products, Inc. (SCP) will increase the price of its Claytone® and Tixogel® organoclay additives and other rheological additives for solvent-based systems (including Advitrol® and Rheocin® castor oil derivatives) by an average of $.10/lb. The increase is being implemented in all markets within North and South America to offset rising raw materials and energy costs.
“Prices for key raw materials, including surfactants, minerals, oils and energy, continue to escalate,” explained SCP Vice President Don Poucher. “SCP is committed to the market and continues to seek efficiencies in all aspects of the production process, but we are unable to continue absorbing these significant increases.”
Claytone® and Tixogel® rheological additives are produced from carefully selected natural sodium bentonite that are “organically modified” to provide various rheological characteristics to solvent-based or oil-based formulations. They are ideal for use in inks, paints, greases, oil well drilling fluids, consumer care products, sealants and adhesives.
